Should I Cover My Caravan/Motorhome In Winter?

Advice for using covers in winter:

Using a cover in Winter is still recommended to help keep your caravan protected, however,  when using your cover in the winter months, we suggest checking your Caravan/Motorhome regularly. We also recommend regular ventilation and using a dehumidifier when your vehicle is in long term storage to prevent mould.

How To Put A Cover On A Caravan/Motorhome

When installing your cover, we recommend not attempting to fit the cover in windy conditions. We also recommend ensuring that your vehicle is dry, clean & free from debris, loose particles & grit to avoid scratching the paintwork. Here are some steps you can take to install your cover:

  • Two people & the careful use of stepladders will be required.
  • Open out the cover. The front section is identified with a ‘FRONT’ label.
  • Unzip the rear panel.
  • Start from the front & work toward the rear, lift the cover carefully over the roof. Adjust the cover’s position until an even fit all over is achieved.
  • Carefully close the zips and fasten the Velcro tabs.
  • Secure sides of the cover with the straps provided. Pass each strap under the vehicle and secure to the corresponding buckle on the opposite tabs.
  • After fitting, use the extra 2 windproof straps included across the top of the caravan to secure the cover in high windy weather.

Can You Wash Caravan Covers?

You can indeed wash your caravan cover. When it comes to washing your cover, we find it is best to clean with a soft sponge & warm water.

We do not recommend machine washing or tumble drying the cover for several reasons, one being that it can potentially damage your cover. It is also important to remember to ensure your cover is completely dry before storing.
